I’m definitely a cat person. Don’t get me wrong, dogs are all good and fine, but there’s nothing I love more than a purring ball of fur.
Anyway, this lovely feline was following me around the Tybee Lighthouse during an early morning photography trip – and I decided he needed his own portrait.

Baby Back Ribs – Alton Brown style.

Today, I’m braising ribs per this Alton Brown recipe, but I omitted and/or changed a few things. I’m not a big spicy foods fan- I like my ribs a bit sweet.
My ingredients were as follows:

Dry Rub:

8 tablespoons light brown sugar, tightly packed
3 tablespoons kosher salt
1 tablespoon chili powder
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/2 teaspoon rubbed thyme
1/2 teaspoon onion powder

Braising Liquid:

1 cup apple juice
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
2 cloves garlic, chopped

I’ll follow the rest of the directions, though. I promise! (These will be served with potato salad and some kind of bean.)

Hello everybody!
In case you missed it.. the above photo came in second place in a photo contest sponsored by the Tybee Island Tourism Council. Pretty cool, huh? So, when we get back to Tybee (which will hopefully be soon) we’ll have some giftcards to use at MacElwee’s, The Crab Shack and Seaside Sisters. Awesome!

We’re just outside of Atlanta – in Decatur, Georgia, to be precise. (My home town is Decatur, AL!) We’ll be here for another few months, probably. It’s pretty nice and reminds me of home: cold, crisp and not too busy. I’ll post when I can!
