I’m pretty sure my new favorite things to photograph are shells, on the beach, near sunset. The way the colors reflect on the wet sand and the dainty little shapes and patterns on the shells just make for (what I think are) great photographs.
Yes, it looks as if I’m headed back down to “dark” photography again – but I’m actually thinking about “revisiting” some of my old shots and seeing what I can do with them in Photoshop. I’ll share the results, of course.
In other news, I’ve been all kinds of busy with the Soap Kitchen. I even put together a snazzy new shelf, because my old one was no longer “cuttin’ it.”
Thanks for visiting!

So, I’ve been doing a lot of stuff non-photography related, lately, but I’m getting back into the swing of things. I’m working on new photo pendants – bigger, shinier and generally more awesome
(I even have a new Etsy shop just for pendants, but more on that later.)
Also, the title of this post “Lighten Up” is a note to myself. Not in the figurative sense, but literally – in terms of my photographs. If you’ve ever looked through my gallery, you might have noticed everything is sort of on the dark (albeit richly colored) side. I’m trying to take lighter photographs, but I still want to bump on the contrast and deepen the colors out of habit. This is the first of a (hopefully) long experiment with photography on the lighter side.
Wish me luck!

This was taken a couple weeks ago. Originally, we were going to go eat at our favorite seafood place here on Tybee (Stingray’s) but they were packed – and we ended up stopping at three other places before settling on Cafe Loco. After we ate, we walked out on their doc and I snapped this photograph. The bright blue and yellow colors are what drew me in, but the pattern and texture of the aluminum sold me on it.
In other news, not much else to report. Waiting on supplies (mostly for soap, but for photography related things too) and getting ready for the Christmas rush! What do you mean Christmas is still more than 4 months away? It’s never too early to start shopping
I’ve got lots of stuff planned for the Soap Kitchen… so watch out!
Now, back to laundry..
