We had this for dinner last night, but of course, you can eat it for breakfast too ![]()
Ingredients (makes 2 servings):
4 pieces of sliced bread (I used a nice thick ‘egg bread.’)
1/4 cup milk
1/4 cup heavy cream
2 eggs
1T sugar
2t Cinnamon (+/- to taste)
2T Butter
Combine milk, cream, eggs, sugar and cinnamon in a shallow dish.
Place skillet over medium-high heat and melt butter.
While the pan heats, place bread slices (two at a time if you can manage it) into the egg mixture for about 10-15 seconds per side.
Place into hot pan and cook to your desired doneness. (I like mine a bit crispy on the outside, so I cooked it for about 1 1/2 minutes per side.)*
Serve warm with lots of syrup and whatever toppings tickle your fancy ![]()
*Of course, given pan and stove variations – you may need to lengthen or shorten the cooking time – so keep an eye on your toast!
& As you can see, I topped mine with banana slices, but you can top your toast with just about anything. Peanut butter, nuts, raisins.. really endless possibilities here ![]()
Enjoy!
